Woodward partners with Lufthansa Technik for LEAP engine component repairs
Woodward Inc. (NASDAQ: WWD) entered an Elite Licensed Repair Service Facility Agreement with Lufthansa Technik to support components on CFM International LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines, according to a company statement.
The partnership makes Lufthansa Technik the first network partner authorized to provide complete repair and overhaul services for Woodward fuel controls, valves, and actuators on CFM LEAP engines. The agreement is part of Woodward's two-tier global support network.
Airlines operating Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will have access to the enhanced service capabilities. Lufthansa Technik already provides maintenance services for CFM LEAP engine-powered aircraft as a CFM Premier MRO provider.
Under the agreement, Lufthansa Technik will invest in advanced tooling and test equipment to enable full Elite-level capabilities for Woodward components. The investment supports repair solutions for CFM LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engine operators.
"The partnership with Lufthansa Technik is an important step forward in our collaboration and for delivering excellent service to customers," said John DiSilvestro, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Service at Woodward.
Berit Plewinsky, Vice President Commercial Aircraft Component Services at Lufthansa Technik, said the partnership provides "OEM-supported repair capabilities, close technical alignment, and continuity" for airline operations.
Woodward's Licensed Repair Services Facility program offers two tiers - Elite and Authorized - providing MRO stations with licenses and technology packages to perform maintenance services on Woodward engine components. The program includes direct access to component maintenance manuals, technical assistance, and technology packages with tooling and training.
