PayPal becomes NFL's official peer-to-peer payments partner
PayPal Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: PYPL) announced a partnership with the National Football League, making the company the league's official peer-to-peer payments partner.
The partnership allows PayPal users to send, receive, split and pool money through the PayPal app for NFL-related activities. PayPal customers will have access to benefits including exclusive sweepstakes for tickets, upgraded seating and experiences.
PayPal operates across 110 countries and has more than 430 million active accounts across 200 markets. The company's platform now enables direct money transfers between PayPal and Venmo, connecting PayPal customers to over 100 million Venmo users in the United States.
The new PayPal app includes search functionality via phone number and allows users to send PayPal links through text messages, email or messenger applications. Users can also pool money, split costs and settle payments instantly.
In 2025, the total amount of money sent through PayPal and Venmo peer-to-peer payments increased by 7%. The NFL's 2026 calendar includes nine international games across four continents.
"Nearly 25 years ago, PayPal helped pioneer peer-to-peer payments, and today we've built one of the world's most trusted and accessible global networks for how people move money," said Ben Volk, senior vice president and general manager of PayPal Consumer.
The partnership covers the NFL ecosystem including flag football across multiple international markets and promotion of the NFL Flag College Showcase at Draft, according to the company's press release.
