Butterfly Network names Arun Nagdev as chief medical officer
Butterfly Network (NYSE: BFLY) appointed Arun Nagdev as Chief Medical Officer for Point-of-Care Ultrasound, the company announced. Nagdev will lead global medical strategy for the company's core POCUS business and oversee clinical product validation and regulatory development efforts.
Nagdev brings more than 20 years of experience in point-of-care ultrasound adoption and education. He currently serves as an attending physician and Director of Emergency Ultrasound at Highland General Hospital and as Associate Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at University of California, San Francisco.
The appointment comes as Butterfly Network continues expanding its enterprise strategy globally. He has held leadership roles with the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
"Arun is one of the most respected voices in point-of-care ultrasound, with a rare combination of clinical credibility, academic leadership, and product insight," said Joseph DeVivo, President, CEO, and Chairman of Butterfly Network.
Butterfly Network develops semiconductor-based ultrasound devices and cloud software. The company launched its handheld ultrasound system Butterfly iQ in 2018, followed by the iQ+ in 2020 and the iQ3 in 2024. The iQ3 received the Best Medical Technology award at the 2024 Prix Galien USA Awards.
