SolarEdge launches 197 kWh commercial battery system in Europe, Asia

April 21, 2026 7:31 AM

SolarEdge Technologies Inc. announced the launch of a new commercial storage system with 197 kWh capacity for medium-to-large commercial and industrial applications in Europe and Asia. The CSS-OD 197 kWh solution is now available for order, according to a company statement.

The system comprises a 197 kWh battery cabinet paired with one or two 50 kW battery inverters and can scale up to 1 MW and 4 MWh per site. The battery supports applications including self-consumption maximization, peak shaving, tariff optimization, and export and import limit management.

The product is designed for indoor or outdoor commercial and industrial solar installations and can function as standalone storage or AC-coupled to a photovoltaic system. SolarEdge stated the system includes safety and cybersecurity protections along with simplified installation features.

The new offering builds on SolarEdge's existing CSS-OD 102.4 kWh storage system, which launched in late 2024. The company reported strong sales of the smaller system, which is now installed worldwide.

"The market response to our first CSS-OD has been extremely encouraging, creating a strong new revenue stream from new sites and our large C&I solar install base," said Naama Ohana, Chief Commercial & Industrial Division at SolarEdge. "The launch of the higher-capacity battery will help unlock even more opportunities for our partners, primarily for sites which require more storage capacity."

SolarEdge is based in Milpitas, California, and develops solar inverters, storage systems, and related energy technology products. The company trades on NASDAQ under ticker SEDG.
