Solidion receives patents for solid-state battery conversion technology

April 21, 2026 7:02 AM

Solidion Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: STI) announced it received patents for technology that converts liquid electrolytes to solid electrolytes in lithium-ion batteries without requiring new manufacturing equipment.

The patented liquid-to-solid electrolyte conversion platform allows existing lithium-ion battery manufacturers to produce solid-state batteries using current facilities and processes. The technology involves injecting a proprietary liquid electrolyte into dry battery cells and then converting the liquid into semi-solid or solid electrolyte inside the cells.

The conversion process reduces or eliminates flammability risks associated with volatile organic solvents used in conventional lithium-ion battery liquid electrolytes. These patents add to Solidion's portfolio of more than 345 patents.

Solidion, headquartered in Dallas with pilot production facilities in Dayton, Ohio, manufactures battery materials and components for energy storage systems and electric vehicle applications. The company develops technologies including silicon anodes, biomass-based graphite, and lithium-sulfur and lithium-metal technologies.

The announcement was made in a press release on April 21, 2026.
