Meta and CBRE launch program to train thousands of data center technicians

April 20, 2026 9:01 AM

Meta Platforms Inc. and CBRE Group Inc. (NYSE: CBRE) announced a multiyear training program called LevelUp to recruit and train thousands of fiber technicians for Meta's U.S. data center construction projects.

CBRE will establish and operate multiple training centers across the U.S. starting this summer. Program graduates will have opportunities to work at Meta construction sites through the company's network of contractors.

The curriculum will train workers to install technical infrastructure including fiber-optic cables, network equipment, and other mission-critical systems at Meta's data center sites. CBRE stated the training is designed to provide broadly applicable skills for the construction and data center industries.

Meta currently has 27 data centers under construction or operational in the U.S., with additional facilities in planning stages. Since 2010, these projects have supported more than 30,000 skilled trade jobs and 5,000 operational positions, according to the company.

"The future of the AI revolution depends on a highly skilled U.S. workforce – one that rises to the challenge of building and maintaining the complex systems that power innovation," said Dina Powell McCormick, Meta's President and Vice Chairman.

Bob Sulentic, CBRE Chair and Chief Executive Officer, said the company is "committed to leveraging the full scope and expertise of CBRE to develop and train a skilled workforce that will support Meta in building out their infrastructure."

The program addresses what the companies describe as a growing shortage of fiber technicians needed for data center infrastructure construction. The information was provided in a joint press release from the companies.
