TransAlta names new CFO and CCO ahead of leadership transition

TransAlta Corporation (TSX: TA) (NYSE: TAC) announced the appointment of Mike Politeski as Chief Financial Officer and Grant Arnold as Chief Commercial Officer, effective May 1 and May 6, 2026, respectively.



The appointments coincide with Joel Hunter's transition from CFO to President and CEO on April 30, 2026, following the retirement of current CEO John Kousinioris.



Politeski brings over 25 years of experience in capital markets, financial strategy, risk management, treasury, financial reporting and tax. He most recently served as Senior Vice President, Finance & Treasurer at Veren Inc., formerly Crescent Point Energy Corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan and a CPA designation.

Arnold has more than 30 years of leadership experience in the power generation and energy sector. He previously served as President and CEO of BluEarth Renewables Inc., where he expanded the company's operating and development portfolio across North America. Before that, he held senior roles at Suncor Energy across natural gas exploration, development, operations and renewables. Arnold holds an MBA from the University of Calgary and engineering degrees from the University of Alberta.



The Calgary-based TransAlta operates as one of Canada's largest publicly traded power generators, delivering electricity across Canada, the United States and Western Australia.
