IMAX appoints interim CEO during Gelfond's medical leave
IMAX Corporation (NYSE: IMAX) appointed Robert D. Lister as interim principal executive officer while CEO Richard Gelfond remains on temporary medical leave, according to a company statement.
The board of directors named Lister, who serves as chief legal officer and senior executive vice president, to the interim role on April 16, 2026. He will hold the position until May 1, 2026, when Gelfond is expected to return to his duties.
Gelfond's medical leave was previously announced on March 30, 2026. The company did not disclose details about the nature of his medical condition.
Lister will not receive additional compensation for his temporary appointment. He will continue his current responsibilities as chief legal officer and senior executive vice president alongside the interim CEO duties.
The company stated that Lister's appointment does not involve any arrangement or understanding, and no plans, contracts or awards were modified in connection with his interim role. IMAX confirmed there are no family relationships between Lister and other directors or executive officers.
