PreludeDx and Quanterix announce breast cancer test validation

April 17, 2026 8:34 AM

PreludeDx and Quanterix Corporation (NASDAQ: QTRX) announced that AidaBREAST, a multi-omic assay for early-stage invasive breast cancer, was developed using Quanterix's Akoya PhenoImager HT platform with Opal chemistry.

The validation study included 922 hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative invasive breast cancer patients across four academic and clinical centers in the United States and Sweden, with a median follow-up of approximately 10 years. The test demonstrated both prognostic capability for 10-year locoregional recurrence risk and predictive capability for radiation therapy benefit.

AidaBREAST combines spatial multiplex protein expression obtained through the PhenoImager HT platform and Opal chemistry with targeted next-generation RNA sequencing. The assay is designed for patients with stage I and IIa breast cancer.

"For the first time, oncologists have a tool that tells them not just how likely a patient is to recur, but whether radiation therapy is actually going to help that specific patient," said Karuna Mittal, Senior Director of Research and Development at PreludeDx and co-author of the published study.

Everett Cunningham, Chief Executive Officer of Quanterix, stated that "PreludeDx's ability to develop a truly novel tool on our PhenoImager HT platform – that also performs reliably and reproducibly across multiple institutions and years of archived tissue, speaks to the immediate opportunity for spatial proteomics in clinical oncology."

Dr. Mittal will present the study findings at the AACR Annual Meeting 2026 on April 21st at the Quanterix booth. The information comes from a company press release statement.
