Ainos expands smell AI technology into healthcare infrastructure

April 17, 2026 8:07 AM

Ainos Inc. (NASDAQ: AIMD) announced the expansion of its Smell AI technology into healthcare infrastructure through a collaboration with MacKay Memorial Hospital and Topco Scientific Co. The deployment will focus on environmental monitoring and safety across hospital power systems, HVAC infrastructure, chemical handling environments, and clinical laboratory settings including MRI facilities.

The expansion represents a move beyond the company's established semiconductor and industrial applications. According to a third-party research report published by VASRO GmbH, the technology converts scent signals into machine-readable data for environmental monitoring purposes.

The AI Nose platform uses sensor arrays and proprietary algorithms for scent detection and converts analog scent signals into structured data through what the company calls Smell ID. The system includes a Smell Language Model designed to classify scent patterns over time.

"We are building Smell AI-powered by AI Nose-as a new layer of AI infrastructure that enables machines to sense, learn, and predict invisible scent signals," said Eddy Tsai, Chairman, President and CEO of Ainos.

The VASRO report identifies 2026 as a scale-up year for Ainos as it moves toward deployment and revenue generation across multiple market verticals. The company operates under a service-based deployment model for its scent detection technology.

Ainos develops both AI sensing technology and VELDONA, an oral interferon treatment for rare and autoimmune diseases. The company's stock trades on NASDAQ under the symbols AIMD and AIMDW.
