Textron Aviation adds Gogo 5G connectivity to Cessna Citation jets
Textron Aviation Inc. (NYSE: TXT) announced the availability of Gogo 5G connectivity upgrades for multiple Cessna Citation business jet models. The Federal Aviation Administration issued a Supplemental Type Certificate allowing the aftermarket installation on Citation Longitude, X+, X, Sovereign+, Sovereign, Latitude, XLS Gen2, XLS+, XLS and Excel aircraft.
The Gogo 5G system provides faster internet speeds, reduced latency and improved WiFi performance for aircraft cabins. Customers can install new AVANCE Gogo 5G systems or upgrade existing AVANCE systems at Textron Aviation Service Centers.
"Reliable, high-speed connectivity is essential for today's operators, whether they're conducting business in flight or supporting passengers who expect a seamless digital experience," said Brian Rohloff, senior vice president of Customer Support.
Textron Aviation plans to expand Gogo 5G availability to Citation CJ4, CJ3+ and CJ3 models pending FAA certification approval. The system enables streaming, video conferencing and cloud-based applications while supporting multiple connected devices throughout the cabin.
The upgrade features a dual band router and dynamic data management tools designed to optimize bandwidth usage. Gogo developed the 5G system specifically for business aviation applications.
Textron Aviation operates through its Beechcraft and Cessna brands and maintains a global service network of more than 300 authorized facilities. The company also provides mobile support through over 40 mobile service units.
