Q2 launches AI development tool for banking platform extensions

April 16, 2026 10:00 AM

Q2 Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: QTWO) announced Q2 Code, an AI-powered development environment for building extensions and integrations on its digital banking platform. The tool uses Anthropic's Claude Code through Amazon Bedrock to generate code from natural language prompts.

Q2 Code is designed to help financial institutions and partners create Q2 SDK-compliant extensions more quickly by converting business requirements into working code. The system generates code aligned to platform APIs and best practices, reducing development time from weeks to days according to the company.

The tool integrates with Q2 Innovation Studio, where financial institutions can already build custom integrations using the Q2 Software Development Kit. Q2 Code adds AI capabilities to help developers move from concept to working extension faster while maintaining compliance requirements for regulated financial institutions.

"AI represents the most significant development in technology since digital banking became mainstream, and financial institutions need practical ways to use it to create real impact," said Q2 CTO Adam Blue. "With Q2 Code, we're embedding AI directly into the SDK to drive innovation."

Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union will participate in Q2 Code's Early Access program, which will expand throughout 2026. The program allows participants to use Q2 Code in real-world development scenarios and provide feedback for product development.

"What's exciting about Q2 Code is its ability to accelerate that cycle, helping our teams move from idea to prototype much faster," said Jonathan Cilley, SVP and Chief Information Officer at Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union.

Q2 is also using Q2 Code internally across its product and engineering teams for various stages of software development, including ideation, implementation and production. The information is based on a company press release.
