Envoy Medical adds Chas McKhann to board of directors
Envoy Medical Inc. (NASDAQ: COCH) announced the appointment of Chas McKhann to its board of directors. McKhann brings experience from leading medical technology companies through acquisitions totaling over $3.4 billion.
McKhann previously served as chief executive officer of Silk Road Medical, which Boston Scientific acquired for $1.16 billion, and Apollo Endosurgery, also acquired by Boston Scientific for approximately $615 million. He held chief commercial officer roles at Torax Medical and Intersect ENT before their acquisitions by Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic, respectively.
"Chas brings a proven track record of commercial success and delivering strong outcomes for investors," said Brent Lucas, CEO of Envoy Medical. The company develops fully implanted hearing solutions, including its investigational Acclaim cochlear implant.
McKhann currently serves as executive chair of Distalmotion SA and as an independent director at Exagen Inc. He also works as a senior advisor to McKinsey & Company. He holds an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BA in Political Science from Stanford University.
"I believe the Acclaim device has the ability to be a true game-changing advancement that has the potential to transform the lives of patients with hearing loss," McKhann said. "With the pivotal trial enrollment now complete, I am excited to work with Brent and his team to develop a commercialization strategy."
McKhann will serve as an independent director and member of the company's compensation committee. The Acclaim cochlear implant received Breakthrough Device Designation from the FDA in 2019 and is currently under investigation in a U.S.-based pivotal clinical trial.
