April 16, 2026 8:01 AM

DraftKings Inc. (NASDAQ: DKNG) announced its intent to launch online sports betting and casino operations in Alberta, Canada, pending regulatory approval from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission.

The company plans to make DraftKings Sportsbook and Casino available on the province's anticipated launch date of July 13, 2026, as established by the AGLC. Alberta would become the second Canadian province where DraftKings operates, following Ontario, and would mark the 34th jurisdiction in North America where the company offers online sports betting.

The launch would also represent the seventh jurisdiction where DraftKings provides online casino services. The timing coincides with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in North America.

"We're excited about the opportunity to expand DraftKings' footprint in Canada and bring our online sportsbook and casino experiences to customers in Alberta," said Greg Karamitis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Sports at DraftKings.

Eligible Alberta residents can pre-register for the services ahead of the expected launch date. The company stated it has developed responsible gaming programs that include budgets, controls and educational resources for customers.

DraftKings currently operates mobile and retail sports betting in 30 U.S. states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and Ontario. The company also runs casino gaming operations in five U.S. states and Ontario under its DraftKings brand, and in four additional states and Ontario under its Golden Nugget Online Gaming brand.
