BTQ Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: BTQ) announced that Chief Quantum Officer Dr. Gavin K. Brennen co-authored research introducing a general theory of quantum error correction for permutation-invariant codes. The work was conducted in collaboration with Macquarie University and researcher Yingkai Ouyang from the University of Sheffield.

The paper, titled "A theory of quantum error correction for permutation-invariant codes," presents what the authors describe as the first general theory of error correction for permutation-invariant codes. The research introduces algorithms designed to correct errors on permutation-invariant codes and presents a simplified approach for certain erasure and deletion errors.

Permutation-invariant codes represent a category of quantum error correction methods that differ from more commonly studied stabilizer codes. According to the research, these codes can correct standard errors as well as errors that other codes cannot address, while remaining simpler to control in certain architectures.

"This work reflects BTQ's commitment to advancing the foundational technologies that will underpin practical quantum systems," said Brennen. "By contributing directly to research in quantum error correction, BTQ is helping expand the theoretical tools needed to protect quantum information and improve the resilience of future quantum technologies."

The research addresses quantum error correction, which is considered essential for reliable quantum systems as they scale. BTQ operates quantum software platform QPerfect, which includes QLU for fault-tolerant quantum control and MIMIQ for quantum emulation.

BTQ Technologies is a Vancouver-based quantum technology company that develops quantum and post-quantum security solutions across multiple industries including finance, telecommunications, and defense. The company trades on both NASDAQ and CBOE Canada under the ticker BTQ.
