Cadence partners with Google to scale AI chip design platform

April 15, 2026 1:30 PM

Cadence Design Systems announced a collaboration with Google to integrate Google's Gemini models with the Cadence ChipStack AI Super Agent on Google Cloud. The partnership aims to advance automated chip design and verification processes.

The ChipStack AI Super Agent combines artificial intelligence reasoning with Cadence's electronic design automation (EDA) tools. According to the company, the platform delivers up to 10 times productivity improvements across digital design, testbench development, verification planning, regression management and automated debugging.

"Our collaboration with Google Cloud represents a major step forward in scaling AI-driven design automation," said Paul Cunningham, senior vice president and general manager at Cadence. "By integrating the Cadence ChipStack AI Super Agent with Gemini, we're advancing the next generation of agentic design—combining the reasoning power of large language models with Cadence's world-class EDA engines."

The platform uses what Cadence calls Mental Model technology for automated reasoning through native skills that operate Cadence EDA tools. The integration with Google's Gemini models is designed to improve the accuracy of large language model-generated content for chip design applications.

Google Cloud provides the computing infrastructure for Gemini's language model processing, Cadence EDA tools and the ChipStack AI Super Agent. The companies describe this as an end-to-end solution for automated chip design and verification.

The ChipStack AI Super Agent is available on the Google Cloud Marketplace. Cadence develops computational software for semiconductor and system design, serving companies in hyperscale computing, mobile communications, automotive and other technology sectors.
