Ondas launches ONBERG joint venture with Heidelberg for drone defense
Ondas Inc. (NASDAQ: ONDS) announced the launch of ONBERG Autonomous Systems, a joint venture with HD Advanced Technologies, a subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. The venture began operations at Heidelberg's facility in Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany.
The launch included a demonstration attended by government officials and industry leaders, showcasing integrated autonomous drone defense systems. ONBERG will serve as a production and development hub for drone defense technology in Europe.
"ONBERG is a major step toward localizing advanced autonomous defense capabilities in Europe," said Eric Brock, Chairman and CEO of Ondas. "Together with Heidelberg, we are combining proven technology with German industrial scale and execution to deliver mission-ready autonomous drone systems from Brandenburg to customers across Europe and international markets."
Jürgen Otto, CEO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, stated that "Brandenburg an der Havel will become the hub for a self-sufficient, scalable production facility for autonomous drone defense."
The joint venture will initially focus on Germany and Ukraine, with plans to expand across Europe. ONBERG's systems are designed to protect critical infrastructure including energy facilities, transportation hubs, and national security assets through AI-driven detection and autonomous interception platforms.
The venture combines Ondas' autonomous systems technology with Heidelberg's manufacturing capabilities. ONBERG's defense systems integrate sensing, decision-making, and engagement capabilities into what the companies describe as a multi-layered defense architecture.
Ondas operates through three business units: Ondas Autonomous Systems, Ondas Capital, and Ondas Networks. The company provides autonomous systems, robotics, and connectivity solutions for defense, security, and industrial markets.
