Lonestar launches StarVault space data storage, orders second Sidus payload
Lonestar Data Holdings announced the launch of StarVault, which the company describes as the world's first commercially operational space-based data storage platform. The company also ordered a second orbital payload from Sidus Space Inc. (NASDAQ: SIDU) to expand its space-based data infrastructure.
StarVault combines cryptographic key escrow capabilities with space-based data storage infrastructure. The service targets governments, financial institutions, and critical infrastructure operators seeking to protect data from cyber threats, natural disasters, and geopolitical risks.
"Demand for off-planet data security has exceeded expectations," said Steve Eisele, CEO of Lonestar. "With StarVault, we are not just launching a new category—we are scaling it."
Sidus Space is building the first StarVault payload, scheduled to launch in October aboard LizzieSat-4. The second payload is targeted for launch next year. The expansion follows what Lonestar characterizes as strong demand and successful test missions.
Lonestar states it has previously flown four data centers to space, including two to the Moon for testing purposes. The October launch will mark the company's fifth mission and first fully commercial operational data storage deployment to space.
The information is based on a company press release statement.
