Turkey works to extend US-Iran ceasefire, says Erdogan
Investing.com -- Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday that Ankara is working to extend a ceasefire between the United States and Iran while seeking to ease tensions and ensure talks continue between the two nations.
Speaking to lawmakers in parliament, Erdogan said Turkey remains hopeful about negotiations between Washington and Tehran despite ongoing issues. He noted that difficult matters in the talks could be largely resolved if both sides focus on the benefits of peace.
The Turkish leader emphasized that the window of opportunity created by the ceasefire must be taken advantage of to advance diplomatic efforts.
Erdogan also said Israel's attacks on Lebanon are harming hopes for regional peace, adding that the continued military actions undermine broader stability efforts in the area.
