ReconAfrica reports Kavango West discovery and expands portfolio
Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd. (TSXV: RECO) reported 2025 operational results and provided updates on its oil and gas exploration activities across Africa. The company made a discovery at its Kavango West 1X well in Namibia and expanded operations into Gabon and Angola.
The Kavango West 1X well in Namibia indicated approximately 75 meters of hydrocarbon pay within the Huttenburg formation and hydrocarbon saturated sections in the Elandshoek formation. Production testing is scheduled to begin in early to mid-May, with testing of six hydrocarbon bearing zones expected to continue through the end of June.
ReconAfrica completed a farm-in agreement with BW Energy Ltd. for its PEL 073 license in Namibia, resulting in working interests of 70% for ReconAfrica as operator, 20% for BW Energy, and 10% for NAMCOR. The company received a one-year extension for the license to January 29, 2027.
The company expanded its portfolio by signing agreements in two new countries. In Gabon, ReconAfrica executed a Production Sharing Contract for the Ngulu Block, gaining a 55% working interest and operator status in the offshore area. The company has begun 3D seismic reprocessing over the Loba oil discovery, with final delivery expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
In Angola, ReconAfrica signed a memorandum of understanding with the ANPG for a joint exploration project in the Etosha-Okavango basin in southeastern Angola.
The company filed a final short form base shelf prospectus dated April 13, 2026, with Canadian securities commissions. ReconAfrica received $3 million from warrant exercises in 2026 year-to-date. Outstanding warrants with an exercise price of $1.75 expire on July 31, 2026.
ReconAfrica operates petroleum licenses covering approximately 13 million contiguous acres across northeastern Namibia, southeastern Angola and northwestern Botswana, in addition to the Ngulu block offshore Gabon.
