GoPro Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRO) announced its MISSION 1 Series of professional cinema cameras featuring 8K and 4K open gate video recording capabilities. The new lineup includes three models designed for filmmakers and content creators.
The cameras feature a 50-megapixel 1-inch sensor and GoPro's new GP3 processor. The flagship MISSION 1 PRO offers 8K video recording at 60 frames per second, 4K at 240 frames per second, and 1080p at 960 frames per second. The MISSION 1 PRO ILS includes an interchangeable Micro Four Thirds lens system, while the base MISSION 1 model provides 8K recording at 30 frames per second.
The cameras are waterproof to 66 feet without additional housing and feature a 159-degree field of view. Battery life extends to over five hours for 1080p recording and over three hours for 4K recording on a single charge with the new Enduro 2 battery.
"The MISSION 1 Series is the pinnacle of performance for low-cost, compact cinema cameras," said Nicholas Woodman, GoPro's founder and CEO. "Our most demanding, pro-minded customers have asked us for years to make this very line of cameras, and we've finally delivered."
GoPro will showcase the cameras at the NAB tradeshow from April 19-22. The MISSION 1 PRO and MISSION 1 will be available for preorder beginning May 21, with global availability starting May 28. The MISSION 1 PRO ILS and additional bundle editions will launch in the third quarter of 2026.
The company also introduced an accessory ecosystem including a wireless microphone system, media expansion module, and various mounting grips. Pricing details will be announced at the NAB show.
