SEI launches digital platform for collective investment trust onboarding
SEI (NASDAQ: SEIC) announced the launch of SEI Access for CITs, a digital onboarding platform for collective investment trusts that serves defined contribution plan sponsors, advisors, recordkeepers, and asset managers.
The platform automates data capture with pre-populated forms, provides digital applications for streamlined review and approval, and offers centralized dashboards with real-time notifications. The system integrates with SEI's existing CIT platform and supports both public and private assets.
"CITs are becoming mainstream in retirement plans, but the onboarding experience remains manual and fragmented," said Sean Lawlor, Head of Public Markets for SEI's Investment Managers business. "We're proud to help lead this evolution as one of the first trustees to offer a fully digitized, automated onboarding workflow for CITs."
According to Morningstar data cited in the announcement, CITs surpassed mutual funds in 2025 to represent more than half of total target date assets. The company stated that traditional onboarding processes remain paper-based, creating long cycle times and operational complexity.
The solution is available through SEI Access, a platform launched in 2025 following the company's acquisition of Altigo. SEI Access provides investment services for wealth managers and financial advisors in the United States.
SEI manages, advises, or administers approximately $1.9 trillion in assets as of December 31, 2025, according to the company statement.
