April 14, 2026 8:00 AM

Ameresco Inc. (NYSE: AMRC) and joint venture partner Sunel Group received an Engineering Procurement and Construction contract for an 83 MW solar installation in Kozani, Greece, the company announced. Luxcara, a German energy infrastructure asset manager, awarded the contract and holds the majority stake in the project.

The solar facility will feature nearly 130,000 photovoltaic modules installed on a one-axis tracking system designed to follow the sun's movement throughout the day. The project includes medium voltage grid connection and an extension of the 400/33 kV high voltage substation. Construction has already begun, according to the press release.

"Greece is one of the sunniest countries in Europe, making it an ideal location for solar energy projects that can drive both national and regional sustainability goals," said Pete Christakis, Chief Operating Officer at Ameresco.

The Kozani project represents part of Greece's renewable energy infrastructure development. Ameresco SUNEL Energy SA, the joint venture entity, will handle the construction and implementation of the solar installation.

Founded in 2000, Framingham, Massachusetts-based Ameresco provides energy infrastructure solutions to government, commercial and industrial customers. The company has more than 1,500 employees across North America and Europe.

Sunel Group, established in 2006 and headquartered in Athens, has developed more than 2 GW of solar projects worldwide and currently executes projects across Greece, the UK, Spain, Italy, Romania and Uzbekistan.

The company noted that the announcement of this contract was included in Ameresco's previously reported contracted backlog as of December 31, 2025.
