April 14, 2026 7:35 AM

Accenture Federal Services (NYSE: ACN) will lead a six-month engineering sprint to develop an early operating capability for the U.S. Department of Energy's Genesis Mission Critical Mineral and Materials to Unlock Supply initiative, according to a company statement.

The project will integrate data from DOE's National Laboratories with commercial artificial intelligence technology to strengthen U.S. critical mineral supply chains. Accenture Federal Services is partnering with Databricks Federal and all DOE National Laboratories on the initiative.

The early capability system will combine AI-powered workflows with DOE mission data, allowing scientists and engineers to collaborate on research challenges using the integrated platform. The company expects the system to be operational by early summer.

"The Genesis Mission is a generational opportunity that demands bold action and Accenture Federal Services is well-positioned to deliver it," said Ron Ash, CEO of Accenture Federal Services.

Databricks Federal will provide its unified data and AI platform for the project. "By bringing data engineering, analytics, and AI into a single governed environment, we are helping the DOE National Laboratories turn massive datasets into mission-critical insights," said Rory Patterson, Chairman of Databricks Federal.

Frank Alexander, Senior AI Scientist at DOE's Argonne National Laboratory, noted the accelerated timeline, stating that progress achieved in weeks previously would have taken years.

The Genesis Mission aims to secure America's critical mineral supply chains, which are essential for energy and defense applications. Critical minerals are materials deemed vital to U.S. economic and national security.
