Descartes launches AI platform to optimize fleet performance

April 14, 2026 6:45 AM

Descartes Systems Group (NASDAQ: DSGX) announced the launch of its Fleet Data Intelligence platform, which incorporates artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities to improve fleet operations.

The platform introduces René, an AI agent that analyzes fleet execution data to provide real-time insights and identify performance improvement opportunities. René enables fleet managers to investigate operational issues and receive answers to questions about route efficiency, overtime costs, and service level risks without requiring specialized analytics expertise.

The machine learning components of the platform have increased route density by up to 30% in early deployments, according to the company. The system generates service time predictions by analyzing delivery durations and route conditions across variables including customer type, product characteristics, delivery volume, vehicle type, and geography.

"For fleets operating private or dedicated distribution networks, the highest-impact opportunity for AI lies in improving real-world execution," said James Wee, General Manager of Fleet Management at Descartes. "Execution data contains the signals needed to enhance fleet performance but, historically, it hasn't been fully leveraged."

The platform operates on Descartes' Global Logistics Network, which processes operational data from logistics companies. The system aims to help organizations complete more delivery stops without adding vehicles or drivers by reducing excess buffer time and improving planning precision.

The Fleet Data Intelligence platform provides performance metrics that allow companies to benchmark service levels and track operational changes over time. Ken Wood, EVP of Product Management at Descartes, stated that the platform targets organizations operating high-density, repeat-route delivery models such as foodservice, beverage distribution, and wholesale logistics.

The information is based on a company press release statement.
