WEBTOON Entertainment restructures leadership to consolidate global operations
WEBTOON Entertainment Inc. (NASDAQ: WBTN) announced organizational changes that eliminate the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer positions while creating new executive roles.
President Yongsoo Kim will assume oversight of consolidated global operations as the company shifts from regional to integrated global leadership. The COO role will be eliminated as part of this restructuring.
David J Lee will continue as Chief Financial Officer and will additionally serve as President of Wattpad. The company created a Chief Business Officer position to lead growth, marketing, content, and creator management for WEBTOON's global webcomic platform business in Korea and other markets excluding Japan.
Leah Goeun Yeon joined as the company's first Chief Business Officer. Yeon previously served as Chief Growth & Marketing Officer at Woowa Brothers and co-founded e-commerce company Simply O. She has also held positions at McKinsey, Google, and Samsung Electronics.
Yuki Chae was elevated to Chief Product Officer and will integrate WEBTOON's global product development. Chae previously oversaw product operations across North America, Japan, and Korea.
The company appointed Teo Taeyeong Jang as Head of AI to expand artificial intelligence capabilities including content protection, discovery, and translation services. Sean Shinhyung Kim was elevated to Head of IP Business to manage intellectual property development across platforms.
All new roles will report directly to President Kim, while Lee continues reporting to CEO Junkoo Kim in his CFO capacity. The company operates storytelling platforms including WEBTOON and Wattpad, serving approximately 160 million monthly active users.
