Amentum supports NASA ground operations for Artemis II mission
Amentum (NYSE: AMTM) provided ground systems operations support for NASA's Artemis II mission, the first crewed flight in the Artemis program, according to a company press release.
The company's operations at Kennedy Space Center included operating the Crawler Transporter, integrating the vehicle on the Mobile Launcher, deploying NASA's Emergency Escape System, and conducting a Wet Dress Rehearsal. Amentum also performed hypergolic servicing, SLS and Orion testing, closeout activities, and system validations.
"Amentum works at NASA space centers embedding advanced engineering directly into the environments where the nation's most critical missions are planned, tested, and executed," said Mark Walter, president of Amentum's Engineering & Technology business.
The company's involvement extended beyond launch operations to include pre-launch scientific research, design, development, and testing for Artemis program elements. Post-mission, Amentum supported NASA and the U.S. Navy with recovering the Orion spacecraft from the Pacific Ocean near San Diego.
Amentum is headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia, and employs approximately 50,000 people in more than 70 countries. The company provides engineering and technology solutions to the United States and its allies.
