April 13, 2026 9:02 AM

GoPro Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRO) announced it will pursue opportunities in the defense and aerospace sector by engaging management consulting firm Oliver Wyman to identify potential market applications for its camera technology.

The San Mateo, California-based company said the partnership aims to analyze addressable market segments, technology synergies, and go-to-market strategies for defense and government applications. The collaboration will involve working with defense, government and aerospace stakeholders to develop solutions meeting performance and compliance requirements.

"GoPro's brand is well known within defense, government and aerospace sectors. For years, GoPro cameras have been used in numerous diverse use cases in these sectors, including recently being mounted to the solar array wings on the Artemis II Orion spacecraft," said Nicholas Woodman, GoPro's founder and CEO.

Oliver Wyman will leverage its expertise in defense and aerospace consulting to help GoPro identify operational use cases that align with mission needs. Timothy Wickham, a partner in Oliver Wyman's Aerospace and Defense practice, noted that defense and aerospace customers are increasingly adopting commercially available technologies for cost efficiency.

The company stated its cameras are used in demanding environments requiring durability, video stabilization and image quality. GoPro cameras have previously been utilized in various defense and aerospace applications, including documentation aboard spacecraft.

The announcement, based on a company press release, comes as GoPro seeks to expand beyond its traditional consumer market into specialized sectors with specific performance requirements.
