Avantor expands microbial testing capacity at St. Louis facility
Avantor Inc. (NYSE: AVTR) has expanded its St. Louis manufacturing site to include advanced microbial and stability testing capabilities, the company announced.
The facility expansion adds GMP-aligned microbial testing and ICH-compliant stability testing and storage to Avantor's North American operations. The enhanced capabilities are designed to support over 2,000 microbial samples annually within the company's internal network.
The expansion consolidates testing previously conducted across third-party laboratories and Avantor's global network, bringing these services closer to U.S. manufacturing operations. This localization is intended to reduce reliance on external laboratories and minimize cross-border sample movement.
"Expanding our quality control capabilities in North America strengthens our manufacturing and supply chain infrastructure and will help us deliver our high-quality chemicals and other products to customers faster," said Mary Blenn, Chief Operating Officer at Avantor.
The facility includes audit-ready laboratory space and advanced stability storage for materials such as APIs and excipients. The expansion is part of Avantor's Revival program, which involves investments in global supply chain and quality capabilities.
The St. Louis site now offers integrated testing aligned with global regulatory standards for biopharma applications. The company states the consolidation aims to improve efficiency while maintaining quality standards across its operations.
Avantor provides products and services to life sciences and advanced technology industries, serving over 300,000 customer locations in 180 countries according to the company.
