Safe Pro Group launches NODE-X AI processor for military drone operations

April 13, 2026 8:03 AM

Safe Pro Group Inc. (NASDAQ: SPAI) announced the commercial rollout of its NODE-X miniaturized AI-powered edge processor designed for analyzing drone footage in military operations, according to a company press release.

The NODE-X system is scheduled to participate in U.S. Army exercises through the second quarter of 2026. The device is configured as a backpack kit containing an edge compute server and ruggedized GPU laptops running Safe Pro's OnSight software, compatible with U.S. Army-approved Short-Range Reconnaissance drones.

The system utilizes Safe Pro's Object Threat Detection technology, which the company states was trained on 2.6 million drone images and 47,000 confirmed detections from Ukraine. The AI algorithms are designed to identify landmines, cluster munitions, unexploded ordnance and ambush drones while operating without internet connectivity.

NODE-X generates 3D models, orthomosaics and digital surface models while providing automated route planning capabilities. The company reports its platform can identify more than 150 types of landmines and unexploded ordnance.

"Building on over three years of real-world experience in the field and incorporating soldier feedback, we are excited to introduce NODE-X," said Dan Erdberg, chairman and CEO of Safe Pro Group.

The Aventura, Florida-based company develops AI-enabled defense and security solutions. Safe Pro's technology analyzes imagery from drones to detect explosive threats and create geospatial models for military and humanitarian missions.
