Oracle adds document review and inspection features to Aconex platform

April 13, 2026 7:46 AM

Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) announced new capabilities for its Aconex construction management platform designed to streamline document review processes and manage inspection and test plans for capital projects.

The company introduced Document Process capabilities that integrate comment management for reviewing project documents, drawings, and models. The feature maintains an audit trail of review activity and connects all comments to Aconex's document register. An automated Review Matrix initiates approval flows based on document metadata and distributes deliverables according to pre-established sequences.

Oracle also launched a Test Plans feature that provides structured workflows for Inspection and Test Plans (ITP). The capability allows project teams to build and execute ITPs with version-controlled documentation. ITP managers can develop test plans, assign responsibilities, and track status through the workflow process.

"In construction and engineering projects, owners, contractors, and other stakeholders expect a clear record of what happened including when decisions were made, and what information supported the work performed," said Mark Webster, senior vice president and general manager of Oracle Infrastructure Industries.

The platform enables teams to capture supporting evidence during onsite inspections and create exportable packages of documented work. Oracle previously added an Observation capability to Aconex for standardizing observation data collection and safety workflows.

The enhancements aim to address issues with offline spreadsheet management of comments across teams and organizations, which Oracle stated can create administrative work and increase error risk.

Oracle announced the new features at its Edge Customer Summit in Austin, Texas. The information was provided in a company press release.
