Palvella appoints dermatologist John Doux to board of directors
Palvella Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: PVLA) announced the appointment of John D. Doux, M.D., M.B.A., to its board of directors. Doux is a board-certified dermatologist and investment analyst with experience in rare skin disease research and biotechnology investments.
Doux has served as an analyst at Palo Alto Investors LP since 2004, where he has been involved in investments in publicly traded companies developing therapies for rare diseases. He previously served on Palvella's board from 2019 to 2022 and maintained a clinical dermatology practice from 1999 to 2016.
In 2015, Doux authored an editorial in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology titled "Barriers and Opportunities: A View across the Developmental Divide," which discussed the application of orphan disease business models to dermatology. The editorial highlighted investment opportunities in epidermolysis bullosa and other rare skin conditions.
Doux currently serves as a board trustee for Pachyonychia Congenita Project and as a director on the board of Kamari Pharma. He has previously served on boards of multiple biotechnology companies, including Ceptaris Therapeutics, which developed VALCHLOR for cutaneous T-cell lymphoma before being acquired by Actelion.
Palvella develops therapies for rare skin diseases and vascular malformations without FDA-approved treatments. The company's lead product candidate is QTORIN rapamycin, currently in development for microcystic lymphatic malformations, cutaneous venous malformations, and clinically significant angiokeratomas. The company's second product candidate, QTORIN pitavastatin, is being developed for disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis.
Doux received his B.S. and M.D. from Stanford University and completed his dermatology residency at Stanford University Medical Center. He earned an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
