Prothena promotes Kingston to strategy chief, Isaacs to general counsel
Prothena Corporation plc (NASDAQ: PRTA) announced two leadership promotions within its executive team. Annie Kingston has been promoted to Chief Strategy Officer, effective immediately, while Michael Isaacs will become General Counsel and Corporate Secretary following the departure of current General Counsel Michael Malecek in June.
Kingston joined the biotechnology company in 2023 as Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Chief of Staff. She previously worked as an Associate Principal at ClearView Healthcare Partners from 2017 to 2023, advising pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies on strategy matters. Kingston holds a B.A. in Biology and Psychology from Fairfield University.
Isaacs has served as Deputy General Counsel at Prothena since joining in 2020. Before Prothena, he worked as a Corporate Associate at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP from 2015 to 2020. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law.
Both executives will report to Gene Kinney, President and Chief Executive Officer. Kingston will oversee the company's growth strategy, while Isaacs will lead the corporate legal function. Tran Nguyen will continue serving as Chief Financial Officer after previously holding dual roles as CFO and Chief Strategy Officer.
The Dublin-based company focuses on developing therapeutics for neurodegenerative and rare peripheral amyloid diseases, with a pipeline that includes both wholly-owned and partnered programs targeting conditions such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
