Whirlpool plans $60 million Ohio facility to create up to 150 jobs
Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE: WHR) announced plans to invest over $60 million in a new production facility in Perrysburg, Ohio, that will create between 100 to 150 jobs over the next two years.
The company acquired an existing building previously used for solar panel manufacturing and will transform it to produce appliance components and subassembly work for washers and dryers. The facility will become Whirlpool's 11th factory in the United States and sixth in Ohio.
The new plant will include advanced manufacturing technologies and automation to support the company's nearby Ohio operations. Development is expected to take place over two years, with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony planned for later this year.
"Whirlpool Corporation is leaning into our commitment to U.S. manufacturing," said Marc Bitzer, the company's chairman and CEO. "When there is a level playing field, our American workers can out-compete anyone in the world."
The announcement follows Whirlpool's $300 million investment in its laundry operations announced in October, which aimed to add a new production line and 400 to 600 jobs. The company states that approximately 80% of major appliances it sells in the U.S. are produced domestically.
Whirlpool has spent $23 billion in manufacturing, labor and logistics over the past decade, including more than $6 billion with U.S. suppliers last year alone. The company reported approximately $16 billion in annual net sales in 2025.
The investments are subject to final approval of incentives from JobsOhio and a tax credit from the State of Ohio, which are pending review and approval.
