Adient introduces foot massage system for vehicles
Adient (NYSE: ADNT) announced the launch of StepJoy, a foot massage system designed for vehicle cabins. The automotive seating company said the product entered mass production with its debut on automaker NIO's ES9 model.
The system uses a cam-based mechanism to massage the forefoot and arch areas of occupants' feet. StepJoy incorporates two synchronized cam modules and is designed to fit into vehicle seating layouts while maintaining compact packaging.
When not in use, the device stows into the seatback to conserve space. In its deployed position, it can function as a footrest. The company said a heating feature can be added based on original equipment manufacturer specifications.
The system includes Adient's Magic Trim seat cover assembly, which the company describes as a proprietary solution already used in mass production. The cover uses high-stretch materials intended to maintain surface quality over time while meeting automotive durability standards.
Adient operates approximately 200 manufacturing and assembly plants worldwide and employs more than 65,000 people across 29 countries. The company produces automotive seating systems and components for major original equipment manufacturers.
The information is based on a company press release statement.
