LibertyStream begins lithium carbonate production, receives first US order

April 9, 2026 7:00 AM

LibertyStream Infrastructure Partners Inc. (TSXV: LIB) has commenced lithium carbonate production at its facility located at a Select Water Solutions (NYSE: WTTR) site in Howard County, Texas. The company also received its first purchase order for one tonne of lithium carbonate scheduled for delivery in June 2026.

The lithium extraction and refining system became operational after LibertyStream completed installation and construction of its facility in March 2026, ahead of the original schedule. The refining unit can produce both battery-grade and technical-grade lithium carbonate.

"We are proud of the pace of execution at Select's site," said Alex Wylie, president and CEO of LibertyStream. "We appreciate the confidence shown by our first customer as we work to convert our ongoing discussions into long-term offtake agreements."

The purchase order represents part of broader discussions between LibertyStream and an American lithium carbonate consumer for a potential future offtake agreement. Following fulfillment of the purchase order, LibertyStream will make a royalty payment to Select Water Solutions.

LibertyStream targets reaching an annualized production capacity of up to 1,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate by the end of 2026. The company plans to use the Select site as a validation platform while advancing customer qualification efforts and preparing for construction of its first Texas facility capable of the targeted annual production volume.

The company intends to replicate its development model across high-volume US basins, including the Permian and Bakken formations. LibertyStream focuses on extracting lithium carbonate from oilfield brine using existing oil and gas infrastructure.
