Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline hit in drone attack
Investing.com -- Saudi Arabia’s crucial east-west oil pipeline was attacked on Wednesday, disrupting market optimism following the U.S.-Iran ceasefire announcement.
Two people familiar with the matter told the Financial Times that a pumping station along the 1,200km pipeline was struck at approximately 1pm local time Wednesday. The pipeline carries crude oil from the Gulf to the Red Sea for export.
One source confirmed the attack was carried out by a drone, with damage currently being assessed.
The pipeline has become an economic lifeline for Saudi Arabia since shipping through the Strait of Hormuz was nearly closed. The infrastructure consists of several pumping stations along its route.
