GoPro to cut 23% of workforce in restructuring plan
GoPro Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRO) announced April 7, 2026, that its board of directors approved a restructuring plan to reduce operating costs. The plan involves eliminating approximately 145 positions, representing about 23% of the company's 631-employee headcount at the end of the first quarter.
The workforce reduction will be implemented during the second quarter of 2026 and is expected to be substantially completed by the end of 2026, according to the company's statement.
GoPro estimates the restructuring will result in aggregate charges ranging from $11.5 million to $15 million. The company expects cash expenditures of approximately $1.5 million in the second quarter of 2026, $5.5 million to $8 million in the third quarter, and $4.5 million to $5.5 million in the fourth quarter.
These expenditures will consist of one-time termination benefits for affected employees, including severance payments and healthcare benefits. The company noted that actual amounts may differ from estimates due to local law requirements in various jurisdictions and other assumptions.
