NFL names U.S. Bank as official banking and wealth management sponsor
The National Football League announced a multi-year partnership with U.S. Bank, designating the Minneapolis-based institution as an official bank and wealth management sponsor. The agreement builds on a banking relationship between the organizations that spans more than 20 years.
Under the partnership, U.S. Bank will become the presenting sponsor of the Super Bowl MVP Award beginning with Super Bowl LXI and will serve as a top-tier sponsor of the NFL FLAG Championships.
The bank will contribute to the NFL's player financial empowerment efforts through U.S. Bank Financial Edge, a financial guidance program designed for athletes. The program will address topics including cash flow management, charitable planning, wealth building strategies, and preparation for post-football careers.
"U.S. Bank is proud to bring financial expertise to communities and individuals who inspire us both on and off the field," said Gunjan Kedia, U.S. Bancorp chief executive officer.
The Financial Edge program will launch as part of a broader NFL financial empowerment pilot. Fernando Mendoza, a prospective 2026 NFL Draft class member, will serve as U.S. Bank Chief Financial Playmaker and provide insights on the bank's financial education programming.
U.S. Bank currently provides financial services to the NFL and works with more than 35 professional sports teams, stadiums and league-level clients. The bank previously arranged financing for the San Francisco 49ers' stadium construction and led private construction financing for U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The institution serves as the official bank partner for the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers.
The partnership will also include a joint Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, with additional details to be announced in coming months, according to the press release.
