Amentum wins $425 million California aerial firefighting contract

Amentum (NYSE: AMTM) received a $425 million contract from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection to provide aerial firefighting support services to the state. The initial three-year agreement includes two additional option years.



Under the contract, Amentum will provide program management, training, and operational deployment of 350 pilots and mechanics to support California's firefighting aircraft fleet. The company will deliver services including AI-driven predictive maintenance, repair and overhaul operations, and logistics support.



"Amentum is uniquely positioned to manage the training, scheduling and mobilization of pilots and mechanics to deliver aviation solutions that protect California's environment and critical infrastructure," said Dr. Karl Spinnenweber, president of Amentum's Mission Solutions business.



The contract aims to maintain California's specialized firefighting aircraft in operational readiness throughout the year. Spinnenweber noted that fire season has become a year-round challenge requiring constant preparedness.



Amentum, headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia, operates as a global engineering and technology solutions company with approximately 50,000 employees across more than 70 countries. The company provides services in science, security and sustainability sectors to the United States and allied nations.
