U.S. Bank becomes official NFL banking and wealth management sponsor
U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB) announced a multi-year partnership with the National Football League, making U.S. Bank an official bank and wealth management sponsor of the NFL. The agreement builds on an existing banking relationship between the organizations that spans more than 20 years.
Under the partnership, U.S. Bank will serve as presenting sponsor of the Super Bowl MVP Award beginning with Super Bowl LXI and will sponsor the NFL FLAG Championships. The bank will also contribute to the NFL's player financial empowerment initiatives through its U.S. Bank Financial Edge program, which provides customized financial guidance to players at various career stages.
"U.S. Bank is proud to bring financial expertise to communities and individuals who inspire us both on and off the field," said Gunjan Kedia, U.S. Bancorp chief executive officer. "Our more than 20-year banking relationship with the NFL has been invaluable, and we're thrilled to deepen our collaboration in transformative ways."
The Financial Edge program will address topics including cash flow management, charitable planning, saving strategies, wealth building, post-career preparation and entrepreneurship. Fernando Mendoza, a prospective 2026 NFL Draft class member with a business administration degree, will serve as U.S. Bank Chief Financial Playmaker to provide insights on the financial education programming.
U.S. Bank currently provides financial services to the NFL and maintains partnerships with more than 35 professional sports teams and venues. The bank previously arranged financing for the San Francisco 49ers' stadium construction and led private construction financing for U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. U.S. Bank serves as official bank partner for the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers.
The companies plan to launch a joint corporate social responsibility initiative focused on community engagement, with additional program details to be announced in coming months.
