Zimmer Biomet appoints Jonathan M. Vigdorchik as chief science officer

Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc. (NYSE: ZBH) appointed Jonathan M. Vigdorchik as Chief Science, Technology and Medical Affairs Officer, effective April 14, the medical technology company announced.

Dr. Vigdorchik will oversee the company's global technology portfolio, including artificial intelligence, robotics, smart implants and data systems. He will also manage Zimmer Biomet's medical education strategy and global advisory board.

The orthopedic surgeon previously served as Zimmer Biomet's Chief Medical Technology Advisor for Adult Reconstruction and Hip Implants. He currently practices at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery, and holds the position of Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Vigdorchik has held leadership roles at HSS, including Division Chief for the Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement service and Director of Bone Implant Longevity Research. He is active in professional organizations including The Hip Society, The Knee Society, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, where he previously served as Education and Communications Council Chair.

The appointment comes as Zimmer Biomet continues developing its robotics and technology capabilities in orthopedic surgery. Dr. Vigdorchik will report to Chairman, President and CEO Ivan Tornos.

Dr. Vigdorchik earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Detroit Medical Center. He received fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement at HSS and completed an international fellowship in hip preservation surgery.
