AMC shares gain on record Easter weekend performance
Investing.com -- AMC Entertainment shares are trading roughly 9% higher on Monday morning, reaching their highest intraday level since March 5, after the company reported record-setting results for the Easter holiday weekend.
The movie theater operator said it achieved the highest combined global admissions and food and beverage revenue for the Easter frame in its 106-year history during the five-day period from Wednesday, April 1 through Sunday, April 5.
More than 6.0 million guests attended AMC locations in the United States or ODEON Cinemas theatres internationally during the period, marking AMC's best global attendance for a Wednesday through Sunday stretch in 2026.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie led the performance with a global box office debut of $372 million. AMC and ODEON also benefited from other new releases including The Drama, as well as holdover titles such as Project Hail Mary and Hoppers, which continued to draw audiences.
