Nerdy names Atul Bagga as chief financial officer

April 6, 2026 9:01 AM

Nerdy Inc. (NYSE: NRDY) appointed Atul Bagga as chief financial officer, effective April 6, 2026, according to a company statement.

Bagga joins the online learning platform from JLL (NYSE: JLL), where he served as chief financial officer of JLL Technologies and head of global financial planning and analysis since June 2021. Prior to JLL, he held senior finance positions at Amazon Web Services from 2016, most recently as finance director and head of finance for AWS Compute Services.

In his new role, Bagga will oversee Nerdy's global finance organization, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, tax, treasury, investor relations, and capital markets activities.

The appointment follows the conclusion of Jason Pello's service as chief financial officer, which ended April 3, 2026. Chuck Cohn, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Nerdy, said Pello helped guide the company through its transition to a public company in 2021 and was instrumental in achieving adjusted EBITDA profitability in late 2025.

Nerdy provided financial guidance for 2026, projecting revenue between $180 million and $190 million. The company expects non-GAAP adjusted EBITDA to be approximately breakeven for the full year, representing what it describes as a margin improvement of over 1,000 basis points compared to 2025.

The company expects to end 2026 with $40 million to $45 million of cash, including $20 million funded under a new term loan.

Bagga previously served as chief financial officer for Asia and vice president of finance at Zynga (NASDAQ: ZNGA) and as senior vice president and senior research analyst at Lazard Capital Markets. He holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley's Haas School of Business and a bachelor's degree in engineering from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology.
