Vuzix Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI) announced it has received and shipped a six-figure follow-on production order for waveguide-based augmented reality display systems from a U.S. aerospace and defense company.

The display component systems support the customer's initial production rollout of a next-generation head-mounted display program. The order represents a follow-on to previous orders from the same defense customer.

"We believe this order reflects the value of our waveguide-based display technologies in demanding defense applications and reinforces Vuzix's position as a trusted supplier of advanced optical systems," said Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vuzix.

Travers noted that Vuzix continues to expand its presence in defense and other high-performance OEM markets where advanced optics, display performance, ruggedization, and domestic manufacturing are required.

The Rochester, New York-based company describes itself as a supplier of AI-powered smart glasses, waveguides, and augmented reality technologies for enterprise, medical, defense, security, and consumer markets.

According to the company statement, Vuzix holds more than 500 patents and patents pending in optics, head-mounted displays, and augmented reality wearables. The company was founded in 1997 and has offices in Rochester, New York, and locations in Japan.
