AMC Entertainment achieves record Easter weekend revenue globally
AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. (NYSE: AMC) reported record-setting performance during the five-day Easter weekend, achieving the highest combined global admissions and food and beverage revenue for the holiday period in the company's 106-year history.
From April 1 through April 5, more than 6.0 million guests attended AMC locations in the United States or ODEON Cinemas internationally. The company said this represented its best global attendance for a Wednesday through Sunday period in 2026.
The performance was driven primarily by "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie," which generated a reported global opening of approximately $372 million. The film drew strong attendance across AMC Theatres in the United States and ODEON Cinemas internationally.
AMC's merchandise program for the film ranked as the company's second-highest grossing merchandise program, trailing only the Taylor Swift concert film from October 2023. The program featured items including Yoshi popcorn buckets and Luma LED popcorn buckets.
Other films contributing to the weekend's performance included "The Drama," "Project Hail Mary," and "Hoppers," according to the company's statement.
"We want to congratulate our friends at Universal Pictures, Illumination Entertainment, and all those connected to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie for delivering a film that clearly delighted millions and millions of AMC and ODEON moviegoers," said Adam Aron, Chairman and CEO of AMC Entertainment.
AMC operates approximately 855 theatres and 9,640 screens globally, positioning itself as the largest movie exhibition company in the United States, Europe, and worldwide.
