RYAM reports fire at Georgia facility during maintenance outage
Rayonier Advanced Materials Inc. (NYSE: RYAM) reported a fire at its Jesup, Georgia facility on April 4 at approximately 10:00 p.m. during a scheduled annual maintenance outage.
The fire occurred in the digester area and was contained and extinguished by the company's on-site team with assistance from local first responders. No injuries occurred and there were no off-site impacts, according to the company statement.
RYAM has initiated a root cause investigation and repair planning following the incident. The Jesup facility is resuming operations after the outage, though one production line remains non-operational due to the fire.
The company stated it continues to assess operational impacts but does not currently anticipate any material impact to its ability to supply customers according to existing commitments.
RYAM manufactures cellulose and derivatives used in filters, food, pharmaceuticals, high performance plastics, propellants and industrial applications. The company operates manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada and France.
