"Honda Safety Driven" Education Initiative Reaches One Million Students as Part of Effort to Reduce Traffic Fatalities Among Young Drivers

U.S. involving drivers under the age of 25 - Honda global safety goal: zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles by 2050
Even as Honda engineers continue to advance vehicle design and performance, the company believes technology alone is not enough to achieve its challenging goal of zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles by 2050. The Honda safety strategy is committed to further advancing safety for everyone sharing the road through three domains: advancing technology, augmenting safety awareness efforts to influence driver behavior, and working with government, industry and community partners to improve the traffic safety ecosystem. In other words, Honda is seeking to achieve Safety for Everyone, with everyone.
"We are proud to achieve this important milestone of one million students with our safety-awareness program but our real goal is zero – as in zero fatalities in traffic collisions involving our vehicles," said MJ Foxley, Safety Strategy leader at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. For this third year of the program, Honda launched a video series called Honda Safety in Action: From Racetrack to Roadway - It Takes All of Us, featuring IndyCar driver and Indy 500 winner
"Safety isn't just about what a vehicle can do; it's about the choices people make. Our work with Honda meets students early, helping them understand how judgment, awareness, and behavior play a role in keeping themselves and others safe. Reaching one million students shows what's possible when education and industry work together with purpose," said
Honda Safety Driven also launched new program elements in 2024, the second year of the program, with two safety education resources online and through Discovery Education's network. This included an interactive crash test video game called "Crash Course" to entertain and educate students about the physics of a car crash and how different factors can affect the level of risk to passengers, and a digital lesson bundle called "Pedestrian Safety" that teaches students about road safety for those not behind the wheel. An educator guide, presentation, family action plans, and accompanying e-bike and e-scooter safety student activity take the learning further.
