Amazon Web Services expands cloud partnership with Siemens Energy
Amazon Web Services expanded its business collaboration with Siemens Energy, establishing AWS as a strategic cloud provider for the energy technology company, according to a company statement.
Under the agreement, Siemens Energy (ETR: ENR) will use AWS artificial intelligence and machine learning services to enhance smart manufacturing, project delivery, supply chain optimization, and autonomous plant operations. The services include Amazon Bedrock for generative AI, Amazon SageMaker for machine learning models, and AWS IoT SiteWise for industrial data collection.
"Siemens Energy's understands the specific requirements of data center customers and has developed an extensive portfolio of technologies to address these needs," said Frederik Doye, senior vice president of Siemens Energy in Europe. "Our strategic collaboration with AWS accelerates our efficiency and digital transformation while we deliver stable, reliable and more sustainable infrastructure that gets power to the right place at the right time."
The companies will explore energy solutions for Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) data center development and scaling. Siemens Energy will provide turnkey substation solutions for connecting Amazon's data centers to electrical grids and explore gigawatt-scale power generation, microgrids, and backup power concepts to support data center demand.
Joseph Santamaria, general manager of Energy and Utilities at AWS, said the collaboration combines cloud and AI technologies to transform energy company operations and deliver sustainable energy solutions.
The partnership builds on an existing relationship where AWS and Siemens Energy developed the IoT Connected Factory platform, which connects assets from Siemens Energy's global factories to AWS Cloud for real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance.
