BAE Systems wins $180 million Sweden contract for anti-aircraft system
BAE Systems (OTC-PINK: BAESY) secured a $180 million contract from Sweden's Defence Materiel Administration for its TRIDON Mk2 anti-aircraft system, the company announced.
The TRIDON Mk2 is a truck-mounted 40mm anti-aircraft gun system designed to engage multiple aerial threats including drones, cruise missiles and aircraft. The system can also target ground threats such as armored vehicles.
"We are more committed than ever to providing our customers with protection from ever-evolving aerial threats," said Lena Gillström, president of BAE Systems Bofors. "The TRIDON Mk2 has been designed for today's warfare, and we will continue to deliver cutting-edge solutions to put our customers in the best position to meet future challenges."
In February, Sweden and Denmark procured TRIDON Mk2 systems through the Defence Materiel Administration to donate to Ukraine as part of efforts to strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities.
The system features a modular design that allows adaptation to changing operational requirements and integration of new technologies. BAE Systems describes the platform as a cost-effective solution that is designed for quick deployment and simple maintenance.
The information is based on a company press release statement.
